About

My work creates an altered environment in response to nature that is remotely observable and closely tangible. I combine sources from science, nature, and history. I include real objects and forms in the underlying structure of the pieces, but I attempt to remain true to the scientific images of intangible space that inspired the work.

Ptolemy outlined many constellations in his historic star catalog, and various space agencies are working to expand our understanding of the stellar objects in the sky above us. It is a curiosity about these objects that drives my work.

For the imagery in the work, I photograph my surroundings and ground the work in that context. It is important to me to use that context to bridge between what I know and what I am exploring conceptually in the sky above me.
