Hi! My name is Kathryn Gregonis. I'm an artist and historian from Arvada, Colorado, USA. I take pleasure in testing my skills in many different kinds of artistic disciplines. I am a jack-of-all-trades.
My work is currently on display at the Denver International Airport. I have participated in other exhibitions in the Denver area. My work has also appeared in Metrosphere Art and Literary magazine.
Artistic mediums I use include digital, paint, and metal. I work primarily in the digital realm, using Photoshop to create the vast majority of my work with touches in Illustrator and Apophysis. My paintings begin as sketches and meander into an explosion of color. Metalsmithing is an outlet for my love of lighting things on fire and working with my hands. Pounding a shape into existence is highly satisfying.
I really don't have a single favorite artist, but browse a range of art. Some of my favorite artists include Stephen Fitz-Gerald, Dana Mikelson, Kamil Kascha, and several graffiti artists I don't know the real names of. I greatly admire Salvador Dali, Leonardo Da Vinci, H.R. Geiger and Ben Fry. I listen a lot to Journey, Kansas and Pink Floyd. I believe in the medium of the vinyl record. They sound so much better when it's in that format. The music influences my style, as well as the album covers. The 1960s-1980s album covers are some of my favorite works of art. Films are the same way. Armageddon, Amelie, Kill Bill, Independence Day, and the Night Watch films are some of my favorites because they're so cool just to look at.
